• The Bursary is available to any student (adult learners included) from one of the Howe Sound East Communities (Britannia Beach, Furry Creek and Porteau Cove).  Applicants from other communities in the Sea to Sky corridor may be considered in the absence of qualified applicants from the Howe Sound East Communities.
• The Bursary is available to a student actively pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited university, college or trade school.  The Bursary is available to either a Grade 12 graduating student or a student already engaged in post-secondary education programs.
• The Bursary is paid after the student has provided proof of registration at a post-secondary institution.
• The Bursary may be deferred for 1 year (due to course availability, etc.) upon receipt of written request and approval.
• Howe Sound Secondary School (HSS) Grade 12 students must apply according to the criteria outlined in the HSS 2018 Scholarship Book.  HSS will forward Grade 12 applications to the Britannia Beach Volunteer Fire Department for selection.
• All other bursary applications from Non HSS students should be sent via e-mail directly to Fire Chief Rob Nicholls at rnicholls@slrd.bc.ca

Non-HSS applications should include all contact information and a one or two page letter that addresses the following criteria:

• Financial need
• Academic achievement
• Name(s) of post-secondary institutions or programs applied to and/or accepted at (include an associated ID number if available)
• Volunteer activities
• Career goals, and
• Any other applicable information

Amount of Bursary: $1,000.00
